Attic Black is proud to capitalise on years of extensive scientific research in ancient Greek ceramic craftsmanship, specialising in functional tableware and exclusive gift collections.
All ceramics are hand-thrown, hand painted with clay-based slips and the colours emerge during firing. The slips are produced by carefully selecting and processing natural clays in water. The colours are achieved by following the ancient process known as “the iron reduction technique” which involves successive stages of firing in oxidizing and reducing kiln atmosphere. Our ceramics are free of toxic elements or acrylic materials and are not affected by usual liquids (tea, coffee, wine, vinegar, oil, detergents) or exposure to heat.
The products include ancient toys (dolls, marbles, astragalus bones, iynx, spinning tops, figurines), excavation and conservation kits, jewelry, tableware (drinking vessels, plates and other Black Glazed pottery from the Ancient Agora), cooking pots and artifacts inspired by the Prehistoric pottery of the Cyclades and Thessaly.
They are available at the retail corner of the ATTIC BLACK studio, several Museum shops and selected Concept Stores. For online orders visit our brand new E-Shop “theatticblackshop.com”
